Tina Lopingco, Metro NY AWIS, NYBA
Shula Sarner, Ph.D.
Research Scientist, Acorda Therapeutics
Shula recently joined Acorda Therapeutics after her post-doctoral training
at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she worked on Alzheimer’s disease.
Prior to Sinai, she was a post-doc in the Anatomy Department of Humboldt
University Medical School in Germany. Shula received her Ph.D. at the Institute
of Neurology in London.
Wen Zhang, M.D., Ph.D.
Scientist, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals
Wen joined the Bioinformatics Department of Regeneron in February of 2001
after completing a post-doc at the Institute of Computational Biology at
Mt. Sinai. She also received her Ph.D. in the Department of Molecular Biology
from Mt. Sinai in 2000. Wen received her medical degree from
China.
Dong Liu, M.D., Ph.D.
Research Scientist, Psychogenics
Dong joined Psychogenics in 2001 after post-doctoral work at the University
of Toronto. Earlier in the year he received a Ph.D. in Neurology and Neurosurgery
from McGill University. He also received an M.D. in 1995 from the
China Medical University and was a visiting scientist at the University
of South Dakota.
Shari Dermer, Ph.D.
Senior Research Scientist,
OSI Pharmaceuticals
Shari works in the Cancer Biology Group at OSI Pharmaceuticals, which she
joined as a Project Team Leader in 1996. Prior to OSI, she was a Post-doc
at the Division of Molecular Medicine at Cornell University Medical College.
Shari received her Ph.D. from Mount Sinai.
Rosemary Polsky-Newman, Ph.D.
Director of Corporate Development,
Exergen Biosciences
Rosemary recently joined Exergen after a successful tenure as the Director
of Technology and Business Development at the New York Biotechnology Association.
Prior to NYBA, she worked in various small biotech companies where she rose
up the ranks from senior scientist to Director of Research. She then joined
management as the Director of Corporate Planning. Rosemary did post-docs
at Brandeis University and the New England Medical Center. She received her
Ph.D. at Tufts University Graduate School.
